Semantisys applies industry proven methodologies to solve the technology integration problems facing the worlds largest enterprises. Our methodologies represent the international consensus in engineering and Project Management best practices. When a client enterprise implements a Semantisys methodology, the client is assured of implementing an open, royalty-free and widely used approach. Semantisys adopted methodologies include: The Continuous Appraisal Method (CAM® ) Definition Document for systems engineering; Rational Unified Process (RUP® ) for software development; Service Oriented Modeling and Architecture (SOMA® ) for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) development; and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE® ) adaptation of the Project Management Institute (PMI® ) Body of Knowledge. Semantisys and Semantisys staff are currently undergoing Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI® ), RUP and Project Management (PM® ) certification.
CAM is an appraisal methodology developed and used by Lockheed Martin extensively across the corporation as an effective and efficient method for internal process improvement and appraisal. CAM provides an overview of the method and describes the activities in each of the CAM phases. Key attributes distinguishing CAM from other appraisal methods include the ability to conduct appraisal activities incrementally over multiple on-site visits, to fix weaknesses found during the course of the appraisal, and to accommodate organizational and program commitments within the CAM schedule. CAM is used by Semantisys for internal process improvement, for preparation for a formal benchmarking appraisal, for evaluating potential suppliers and for verifying process deployment. CAM is used in conjunction with the CMMI models as well as other models, and satisfies all of the requirements for Appraisal Requirements for CMMI (ARC) Class B and Class C appraisal methods.
RUP is one of the most widely used for software development methodologies in existence. RUP evolved over decades of software development projects and unifies in one approach, several earlier competing notations and methodologies. RUP provides a common language and framework understood by most software developer in the US.
SOMA is an extension of RUP which adds concepts specific to the paradigm of of Service Oriented Architecture. Semantisys licenses the RUP and SOMA template frameworks developed for IBM consulting internal uses. Using the IBM framework, Semantisys engineers apply the correct design approach at each phase of a project, informed by man-years of world wide IBM consulting experience.
The Semantisys implementation of the considerable number of tools provided by the PMI is based on the IEEEadaptation of the PMI Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® ). By relying upon IEEE guidance, Semantitsys adopts the work and experience of one of the most mature Systems Engineering standard bodies.
